Hidden treasure?

I have a feeling that all artists' studios get a "little" cluttered and reach that point where you just need to stop and rearrange things and do a bit of weeding out so you can see what you have on hand. I was organizing some storage shelves and came across a package of old Solarplates that had gotten pushed to the back and forgotten. They have to be at least 6 or 7 years old so I didn't think they would be any good.

I exposed a couple of images I had been working on and was surprised to see that the plates looked pretty good. I'll know for sure once I get a chance to proof the plates; fingers crossed that this will turn out to be a good find.

Busy Months

I started the year teaching a printmaking workshop. It's fun to go back to my former studio/classroom and get together with people who what to learn about printmaking. This well equipped studio, with two large presses, also provides printmakers with access to tools and equipment.

March brought some relief from winter as we boarded a plane for a tropical getaway. Always a welcome break from everyday routines.

My daughter and son in law had an opportunity to get away in April, which meant we had the grand kids and pups over the spring break. Is was so much fun having them during the Easter holiday; dyeing eggs, Easter bunny filling baskets and egg hunt.

Needless to say, when the week was over I was pooped; a 3 and 5 year old are really active!

At the same time we had a bathroom remodel underway working on it whenever we had some spare time. Slow and steady and hopefully it will be finished by the end of the month.

Meanwhile I was trying to eek out a bit of studio time but it was almost impossible to get a block of time where I could work uninterrupted.

I managed to frame my work for the 25th anniversary exhibition of the Printmakers' Network of Southern New England to be held at the Center for Contemporary Printmaking. A day with the group was devoted to hanging the show.

So for those who think retirement means sitting around all day, nothing could be further from the truth. More often than not, it's controlled chaos and that's not such a bad thing.
