Pressing On
A
force that compels; such is pressure.
Pressure
forces us "to do", whether by necessity or choice. There will always
be pressure. Makes no difference if one is pressed for time, under pressure, or
hard-pressed; there will always be pressing matters that demand notice or
attention.
When I was in high school, my art adviser always admonished
me for having “too many irons in the fire.” To this day, I ask myself, is that
such a bad thing? The only drawback is, with the feeling of time bearing down on me, I'm constantly scrambling to accomplish all I wish to do, hence the feeling of being “hard-pressed” - but
what an appropriate feeling for a printmaker. After all, if
one makes prints, pressure is a vital force for creative expression!
So, feeling as though it's time for a change, this blog will focus on the finished work I manage to crank out as I press on.
